Yes, we’re accepting new patients!
We can see most new patients for their initial evaluation within 2-4 weeks after they complete a FREE 15-Minute New Patient Phone Consultation.
At Inspired Psychiatric Care, we serve all age groups and treat a comprehensive range of mental health conditions including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), attention deficit disorder (ADD), obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Psychiatric Evaluation and Medication Management
Our practice comprises a group of board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioners (providers) who are highly trained to diagnose your condition(s), recommend a treatment plan and prescribe the most appropriate psychotropic medications. We then collaborate closely with you to monitor your progress and adjust the plan to optimize your results.
Psychotherapy involves talk only, no medication. We have three part-time psychotherapists who are generally fully booked and not taking appointments. However, our psychiatric nurse practitioners are also trained in various modalities of talk therapy. Many of them offer talk therapy in combination with medication management appointments. Because talk therapists are in such high demand, we recommend that you consider combining your talk therapy with medication management into one appointment with one of our practitioners. Talk therapy provided by nurse practitioners is typically about 20 minutes long, whereas traditional psychotherapists usually do one hour sessions.
We have very limited availability for youths ages 5-12. Most new patients ages 13 through 100 can be seen within 4-6 weeks for their initial evaluation with a nurse practitioner. We do not treat patients who are younger than the age of 5.
We are currently not taking patients for suboxone (opioid addiction) treatment. We also do not have anyone who specializes in borderline personality disorder, so we generally refer those patients elsewhere.
Referrals and Collaboration
Our practice frequently makes referrals to and accepts referrals from other health care professionals in the Kansas City area. We pride ourselves on providing excellent documentation and follow-up with your existing health care team. We believe that an integrated approach is the surest path toward a positive outcome for you.

When you visit our office, you may meet Rosie. She may bark to announce visitors. She is a very sweet and friendly dog. Rosie usually sits in her dog bed in Elizabeth’s office during appointments.
You have a busy life. You want to be treated with warmth, respect and professionalism. Maybe you manage your own appointments. Or – like many of our patients – perhaps you have an advocate such as a parent, a spouse or an adult child. Either way, our mission is to perform as a valuable part of your team. We want to make your life easier, happier and more relaxed. We will always take the time to explain your treatment plan and medications to you and/or someone acting as your advocate.

We find that most of our patients appreciate the convenience of telehealth appointments (video conferencing over the Internet with a psychiatric provider). One benefit of telehealth is that our providers can sometimes make themselves available during non-business hours (evenings, weekends, early mornings).
