Trouble focusing? Hard to pay attention? Time management challenges?
You may have an Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Welcome to the ADHD Center of Excellence
At Inspired Psychiatric Care, we have developed the ADHD Center of Excellence. Quite simply, we are DIFFERENT from any other treatment center for ADHD in the Kansas City area. Please read on to understand why…
Dangers and Frustrations . . .
ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder which affects millions of Americans. Often carried over from childhood, uncontrolled ADHD can be detrimental and frustrating to your role as a student, professional, spouse, parent and even with friends. ADHD can cause you to be disorganized and forgetful. It can cause you to be perceived (and to perceive yourself) as less capable than you really are.
Likely to affect highly intelligent, motivated people . . .
This is ironic because ADHD commonly afflicts highly intelligent, motivated and talented human beings. For example, it is not uncommon for accomplished professionals and entrepreneurs to endure the challenges of ADHD. Examples include Zooey Deschanel, Agatha Christie, Steve Jobs, Simone Biles, Albert Einstein, Emma Watson, Johnny Depp, Sir Richard Branson, Michael Phelps, Emma Watson and Justin Timberlake.
The hyperactivity aspect of ADHD involves a degree of socially awkward impulsivity and poor decision making (such as substance abuse and poor relationship choices). Hyperactivity commonly afflicts children more than adults but should still be assessed in both.
It’s probably MORE than ADHD . . .
ADHD is often accompanied by sister disorders such as depression and anxiety. It is not uncommon for ADHD to be misdiagnosed because another condition seems to be more problematic, thus hiding the true impact of ADHD.
That is why it is critical to obtain a diagnosis from a psychiatric professional – so that you can be sure that you are treating the right disorder or combination of disorders.
An inappropriate use of stimulants such as Adderall, for example, can cause psychosis (such as hearing voices that are not there, seeing things that are not there, cold sweats, racing heart, and paranoia).
The ADHD Center of Excellence is the Best Choice for You . . .
As an area of expertise at IPC, we have developed a special protocol for evaluating and treating patients who believe that they may have ADHD. This includes . . .
- Comprehensive initial evaluation including specific screens for depression, anxiety, trauma and attention disorders.
- Highly accurate, FDA-approved video assessment. For about 20 minutes, you will sit in front of a camera at a computer and answer a variety of questions. The system analyzes your responses by considering your eye movement, facial expressions and limb movement. This video assessment will be done before and after you start medications so that clear evidence of improvement can be demonstrated.
- A detailed treatment plan which may include medication, behavioral therapy and recommended lifestyle changes.
- Ongoing follow-up appointments so that we can adjust and improve upon your medications until the optimum combination is achieved.
How ADHD Differs in Childhood and Adulthood
ADHD affects both children and adults in different ways, influencing focus, behavior, and daily functioning. Understanding these differences is key to finding the right approach to treatment and management. What is ADD/ADHD in Childhood?
explores how ADHD presents in younger individuals, while What is ADD/ADHD in Adulthood? discusses its effects later in life.
