Sharese is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with a diverse background in community health, mental health, and social services. Growing up in Platte City, MO she experienced rural and suburban culture developing a deep appreciation for community. After earning a degree in Sociology and a minor in Women and Gender Studies from UMKC, Sharese expanded her global perspective through studies in South Africa and served in the Peace Corps in Jamaica, where she saw firsthand how social factors influence health.

After returning to the U.S., Sharese worked as a victim’s advocate in a domestic violence shelter while pursuing a nursing degree. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from William Jewell College in 2014 and has spent years providing care in community and mental health settings working with both adults and children. She graduated with her Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner degree from UMKC in 2024.

“I enjoy working with patients from all ages, walks of life, cultural and religious backgrounds,” Sharese said. “I view mental health treatment as a holistic discipline and believe that a person’s cultural background, family of origin, and general lifestyle have significant impact on their mental health. I specialize in culturally specific care and enjoy working with people from different backgrounds who wish to implement their lifestyle and cultural practices with their healthcare. “
